Jul 14, 2018 路 I can say from experience with two fixed bladed knives that 14C28N is pretty good steel. It is interesting in that it takes a wickedly sharp edge and holds it longer than S30V, in my experience and in others' experiences, but then when it loses that edge it gets dull faster than S30V. However, it is very easy to resharpen.

It has pretty good wear resistant and makes for a good outdoor knife. VG-10 is similar but you get more toughness out of N690. Overall it's a middle of the pack steel made in Europe by Bohler. Personally I like 14C28N because it's easy to sharpen, so I guess it depends on your use.
